Size guide

Which Pin Fits My Machine?

To get the best experience from your Automatic Dropset Pins, it is essential to select the correct size for your gym’s equipment. While most selectorized machines follow industry standards, pin hole width can vary between manufacturers.

Choosing the right size ensures the pin engages correctly, keeps your workout safe, and prevents unnecessary returns. Please review the compatibility lists and measurement tips below before ordering.

1. Check Your Gym's Brand

Most gym equipment manufacturers stick to a specific pin diameter. Check the brand logo on your cable machines and compare it to the lists below.

Select the 8mm Pin (Standard)
This is the most common size found in commercial chain gyms.

  • Life Fitness (Most models)
  • Technogym
  • Matrix
  • Cybex
  • Hammer Strength (Selectorized)
  • Precor
  • Hoist

Select the 10mm Pin (Heavy Duty)
Typically found on specialized bodybuilding or older heavy-duty equipment.

  • Panatta
  • Prime Fitness
  • Watson
  • Atlantis
  • Nautilus (Older legacy models)
  • Arsenal Strength

> Note: Brands may update their specifications over time. If you are unsure, we recommend measuring the hole or choosing the Bundle Set.

2. How to Measure

If your gym brand is not listed above, or if you want to be 100% certain, you can verify the size using one of the methods below.

Method A: Measure the Pin or the Hole (Most Accurate)
The most reliable way to check is to use a ruler or tape measure. You can measure either the standard pin's rod OR the weight stack hole directly.

  1. Remove the standard selector pin from the weight stack.
  2. Measure the diameter (width) of the metal pin rod OR the hole in the weight plate.
  3. If it measures approx 8mm (5/16 inch) then choose the 8mm Pin.
  4. If it measures approx 10mm (3/8 inch) then choose the 10mm Pin.

Method B: The "Pencil Test" (Quick Check)
If you do not have a measuring tool, you can use a standard wooden office pencil (HB or #2), which is typically 7mm to 7.5mm thick.

  1. Try to insert the pencil into the weight stack hole.
  2. If it fits snugly: You likely have an 8mm hole.
  3. If it is very loose (lots of wiggle room): You likely have a 10mm hole.

3. Still Unsure? Get the Bundle.

If you train at multiple gyms, or if you just don't want to worry about measuring, we recommend the Bundle with both standard sizes.

It includes both the 8mm and 10mm pins, ensuring you are ready for any machine, anywhere.
